5 Days to Restore: Day 4
It's nice to see you again, welcome to Day 4. Greet yourself with a few deep and nourishing breaths.
Day 4: Diaphragm Release
Over the past couple of days, you've slowed down and offered love to your shoulders, hips and nervous system. And most importantly, you've shown up for yourself each day. That alone can be the hardest part, so pause and acknowledge the power of this, you are creating a new habit of prioritizing yourself, that's huge!
Today we'll be exploring an area of the body that we don't always pay attention to but often needs our love, the diaphragm. When we breathe, we use the diaphragm but when we're stressed the diaphragm might hold some of that tension. Tension in the diaphragm can be connected to tension in the psoas, pelvic floor, and lower back.
This diaphragm release is a wonderful movement you can do daily or a few times a week to support your nervous system and improve your breathing. If you've never done it before, it's normal for it to feel a little tender. Just take it easy and invite a softer touch to the release.
What You need:
Get into your cozy clothes, grab some pillows and blankets and create a nest for yourself to relax into!
Love calls us to look upon the faces of those different from us as brothers and sisters. Love calls us to weep when their bodies are outcast, broken or destroyed. Love calls us to speak even when our voice trembles, stand even when hate spins out of control, and stay even when the blood is fresh on the ground. Love makes us brave. The world needs your love: the only social, political and moral force that can dismantle injustice to remake the world around us – and within us.
