You are the Communicator!

The Communicator Personality

You might have had feedback from teachers in your report cards growing up that you talk too much in class, or adults kept telling you to be quieter. Yet, this is actually one of your superpowers!

Communicators are comfortable with language, sharing their thoughts and feelings and find clarity after a good session of verbally processing with a dear friend. You are empathetic, articulate and feel comfortable talking with others. Some communicators are more introverted and prefer one-to-one or small groups and extroverted communicators thrive as they make their rounds talking to everyone at a party or large groups.

No matter what type of communicator you are, talking things out brings you a sense of balance and perspective. You find that you often don't know what you're feeling until you are talking about it. You value those friends who can do the verbal processing with you and thrive on that communal connection and shared moments of insight that arise.

Communicators are natural leaders and people often come to them to get new ideas or help untangle emotions or problems that they are being challenged with.

The Communicator as a yoga teacher

As a yoga teacher, Communicators are comfortable conveying information. Some communicators naturally teach with more poetic or inspiring imagery and love sharing the words of others in their classes through poems or readings. Other communicators easily teach in clear, simple words and have a knack of saying just the right thing in just the right way for different people to hear.

Communicators strive to bring more inclusive language into their classes, are compassionate and are often thinking of the group experience. Yet when they think about the group experience, they also know that to facilitate a good group means that they are also supporting and encouraging individual experiences.

Using your Communicator powers for good in the world

If you are a Communicator who had early childhood experiences of shutting down your natural abilities, being confident to speak up and share your voice will be part of your practice. Learn to trust that what you say has value, practice speaking your voice with loved ones and teaching yoga is a really wonderful outlet for this. Scary at first to stand up and teach in front of people, but working on trusting your voice, you will soon move forward and enjoy what you have to share with people.

Communicators can struggle with silence at times. Whether that is offering more silent pauses and time for reflection in a class, or a quiet space at home, learning to bring more quiet into your daily life can be nourishing and help improve your innate communication skills.

In an ever-changing world, as oppressive systems and behaviour are coming to light, Communicators are here to bring a confident voice to new ways of thinking. To bring a voice to those who don't have one, to uplift and to enhance the community voice. It is your role as a communicator to trust your voice, to be bold and articulate in what you have to say and how you say it.
