REPLAY: Transitioning to Barefoot Shoes
Transitioning to Barefoot Shoes
Scroll down below the video for the key takeaways for a supportive transition to barefoot/minimal shoes.
Barefoot Shoes Checklist
When you're looking for the right shoes for where your feet currently are at, here are few things to remember:
- No matter what, we can all benefit from doing foot and ankle exercises so make sure they are a part of your daily or weekly routines. (You can find lots of great foot-focused classes in the Heart + Bones online studio)
- Look for shoes with a wide toe box. This means that your toes aren't squished, that you have room to move them around.
- Make sure the shoes are zero drop. Zero drop means a completely flat sole. There isn't any heel, even a little one.
- Fairly flexible soled shoes.
- Some cushion in the shoe is totally ok and even preferable as we start to transition into minimal shoes. And also depending on the activities we do.
- It will take some experimenting to see what's right for your feet. Some brands of shoes will fit you better than others.
Don't forget, you still have time to win a pair of Be Lenka barefoot shoes and a year membership in the Heart + Bones online studio when you join our free 5-Days of Healthy, Happy Feet challenge. It's 5-days of helpful classes and exercises for you feet. Get all the info here.
Enjoy all the info in the workshop and hope you have healthy, happy feet!
